"I only deserve what I earn." - Max Pain

Sometimes tradition can spawn an unpredicted muse. When Marcus “Max Pain” Branch sat in church and listened to his mother sing in the choir, love for the sound of voices and instruments grew into what has now become a highly-visible career in rap music.  Born August 12, 1977, the Baltimore, Maryland native acknowledged his gospel, r&b and hip hop music background and went further into the genres, drawing familiarity by creating a band. After several years of watching and understanding how to bring good music to the masses, Pain made the stride in learning how to play a variety of percussion instruments and even formed a local band which held popularity in his area. Growing from spitting rhymes of other big named artists to writing and producing material of his own for the band to perform was just a small step in the major journey on which Pain was about to embark.

It was in 2004 that the motion for serious music production came into the picture for Max Pain. Teaming with lifelong friend Kevin “Misery” Funderburke, who had been an essential part in Pain’s lyrical development, and Raynard “Sugar Ray” Crockett, Pain was prepared to place his stake in new musical territory. Sugar Ray, an established partner and in-house producer for Pain, taught Pain everything that he currently knows about production. Platoon Records CEO Ernie Peddles bestowed to the humble artist some of the best equipment a producer could receive. Then ambition kicked into overdrive. As a member of BMI, Pain began writing and producing under Platoon Records and consistently delivered winners. The catalog flows with tracks such as "Stuntin" featuring former No Limit artist/producer Fiend; "Stop Schemin" (Remix) featuring infamous New Jersey femcee Lady Luck; Pain also wrote lyrics, rapped, and co-produced the mix tape "The Stimulus Package" along with DJ Dutty Laundry. Also keeping in touch with the oldies but goodies, Pain explored the popular classic “Moments in Love” and delivered a single titled “Art of Noise” for which he also produced and co-wrote lyrics. Now delivering the well-manufactured EP “Salute,” Max Pain focuses on developing his already successful efforts of maximizing his national fan base, through which he gained much popularity with his single “Sassy.” His music has been on display around the country, performing on stages along with major acts such as Busta Rhymes, Young Jeezy, Trina, Young Buck and YoungBloodz.

Undoubtedly, loyalty proves to be the ultimate strength for Max Pain. Match that with a work-ethic that proves diligent and proficient time and time again, the ever-increasing musician tends to thoroughly explore this realm as an artist with a determination to understand the life that he has lived. Doing what he does best, Pain prepares himself for further establishment in the industry with sights set on owning his own label and production company, pushing a brand that can be noted as recognized and respected. The future is now with Pain not only because of his predestined past, but because of what he determines to be in his present.
